Südwestpfälzer Kinderchor (Münchweiler/Rodalb)
The Südwestpfälzer Kinderchor (Münchweiler/Rodalb) Südwestpfälzer Children’s Choir) was founded in 1967 by the music teacher Bernhard Haßler as a school choir at the Münchweiler elementary school. Currently, the choir is directed by Christoph Haßler.
The choir’s remarkable commitment is reflected in its regular concerts. Its high level of skill is confirmed by the prizes it has won in national and international competitions. At the German Choir Festival in Stuttgart, it not only earned a first prize as category winner, but was also named the best of all participating choirs and won the special prize, consisting of a CD production in cooperation with Deutschlandradio Kultur. In addition to First Prize at the Concorso Corale Internazionale in Riva del Garda, Italy, the choir won Second Prize at the International Choir Competition as part of the German Choir Festival 2022 in Leipzig. Its most recent success was First Prize at the Canta al mar international choir competition in Calella near Barcelona.
The choir participates in concerts and festivals throughout Europe as well as in Argentina. Appearances at opera performances at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern as well as on television and radio have made the Südwestpfälzer Children’s Choir well known far beyond its home region.
