Vokalconsort des Berliner Mädchenchores
Chamber choir
The Vocal Consort is the „young“ women’s chamber choir of the Berliner Mädchenchor (Berlin Girls’ Choir, BMC). The ensemble’s continuous membership consists of around thirty active singers. Founded in 2015 on the initiative of former BMC members, the Vocal Consort already made its first major appearances in 2016, including at the commemorative concert for the 100th anniversary of Max Reger’s death at the Berlin University of the Arts and the premiere of Liebe, Kunst, Fremde, Frauen – Künstlerinnenleben (Love, Art, Strangers, Women – Lives of Female Artists) by Japanese composer Mayako Kubo.
In 2018, the ensemble took part in the Deutscher Chorwettbewerb for the first time and received a Second Prize. In the summer of 2019, the singers were invited to Japan for a concert tour. In 2020, together with the concert choir, they recorded the music film Stimmenüberleben, which was awarded the Opus Klassik 2021. In 2023, the ensemble once again won a prize at the Deutscher Chorwettbewerb. In 2025, the choir travelled to China for several concerts.
