GENUIN continues its complete recording of Anton Bruckner’s symphonies in their respective original versions – an ambitious project undertaken by the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig and its chief conductor Dennis Russell Davies. The release of the Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major presents another key work in this extraordinary cycle, allowing listeners to trace, step by step, the development of Bruckner’s symphonic writing in its original form. No other Bruckner symphony is constructed with such uncompromising rigor or displays such a dense web of contrapuntal writing as the Fifth. In the interpretation of the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig under Dennis Russell Davies, the impact of this fascinating music can be experienced to the full in its original version.
