With new releases appearing each month, listeners can follow the evolution of Bruckner's symphonic writing from one work to the next. The Fourth Symphony marked the composer's long-awaited breakthrough, yet, on the advice of several friends, Bruckner revised the work extensively before the original version was ever performed. Listeners can now hear this first version performed by the MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Dennis Russell Davies.
