Originally from Arnsberg, Poplutz first completed a teaching degree before studying voice in Frankfurt am Main and Cologne with Berthold Possemeyer, Rainer Hoffmann, and Christoph Prégardien. He was a recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin “Live Music Now” scholarship and, in 2009, was awarded the Frankfurt Mendelssohn Special Prize.
