The ensemble Concerto Reale was founded in 2008 on the initiative of soprano Magdalena Podkoscielna and a group of close fellow students from Basel, Bremen, and Trossingen, to explore and perform music from the 14th to 18th centuries on original instruments. The exact lineup varies depending on the historical requirements of the repertoire, with diverse programs ranging from Trecento music to the High Baroque period.

Concerto Reale has grown into a flexible ensemble and includes a wide array of instruments such as Fiddle, lute, organetto, viols, various flutes, bagpipes, hurdy- gurdy, percussion, harpsichord, harp, organ, violins, theorbo, lirone, and several others. German and Italian music has always been the ensemble’s primary focus and hallmark.

The ensemble Concerto Reale is composed of internationally renowned musicians and performs both nationally and internationally.
