Symphonic Dances from “West Side Story”
Their first GENUIN CD with festive wind music already showed that the Saxon Wind Philharmonic conducted by their director Thomas Clamor can really make some noise. That this noise can also be rhythmically formed, finely syncopated and clothed in a jazzy velvet is proved by this hot follow-up disc by the elite wind orchestra. Bernstein and Gershwin make listeners smile blissfully whilst tapping their feet, with immortal melodies from Candide to Summertime, from Somewhere to Mambo! Ines Agnes Krautwurst's grandiose jazz voice is the icing on this CD – Moon River could hardly flow more gently… And then once again: one, two… Strike up the Band!
Primephonic
"The overture opens up with a joyous burst of energy that intertwines the beautiful melodies later disclosed in this comical operetta."
