Supersonic Award for "dialogue of distant echoes" by Ionel Ungureanu and Sandro Nebieridze

The new album "dialogues of distant echoes" by violist Ionel Ungureanu and pianist Sandro Nebieridze received the Supersonic Award from Pizzicato today. The two performers embark on a musical exchange across eras and styles. They combine the chamber music works of Ernest Bloch and Jaromir Ludvik Hruska with their own compositions, interweaving the motifs and tonal languages of the two preceding works with a well-known jazz standard.

"Ionel Ungureanu and Sandro Nebieridze succeed in teasing out the charms of the unfamiliar pieces and interpreting them in an engaging manner despite some of their brittle sound. This opens up very stimulating new listening impressions," writes Uwe Krusch in his review.
