Gerriet Krishna Sharma
Composer, Sound artist
Gerriet Krishna Sharma is a composer, sound artist, and artistic researcher in the field of interdisciplinary spatial practices. For the past 20 years, he has been intensely engaged with the spatialization of electroacoustic and instrumental compositions using Ambisonics and wave field synthesis, as well as the transformation processes of sound into three-dimensional sound sculptures in XR environments.
From 2009 to 2015, he was the curator and initiator of the concert series “signale-graz” for electroacoustic music, algorithmic composition, radio art, and performance at the University of the Arts Graz (KUG). His compositions and installations have been presented at international festivals and exhibition spaces. In 2016, he completed his PhD at the artistic-academic doctoral school of KUG on the sculpturality of sound phenomena.
He has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships and was appointed Edgard Varèse Professor at the Electronic Studio of the Technical University of Berlin in 2017. In 2020, he co-founded the Lab for Spatial Aesthetics in Sound (spaes) at Funkhaus Berlin. He was appointed as a guest professor for experimental sound and space at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design from 2022 to 2024.
