Franziska Kuba
Conductor
Franziska Kuba has been Professor of Choral Conducting at the Detmold University of Music since 2022. After studying music education, history, choral conducting, and voice in Leipzig and Weimar, she displayed early on an extraordinary ability to communicate choral music at the highest artistic level. Before coming to Detmold, Kuba taught at the Freiburg University of Music.
Since 2018, she has directed the Vocalconsort Leipzig chamber choir, with which she develops demanding programs and performs both nationally and internationally. Her passion for both early and contemporary music is also
reflected in the founding of the ensemble Neue Kammer. Dedicated to innovative and audience-oriented concert formats, the ensemble has established itself in the scene, supported by the German Music Council and Podium Gegenwart.
As a freelance conductor, Franziska Kuba has collaborated with venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin and Theater Heidelberg and with ensembles including the WDR Radio Choir, the Berlin Radio Choir, the European Union Baroque Orchestra, and the Chorus of the Leipzig Opera. Her interpretative depth and creativity were recognized in 2021 with the Audience Award of the German Choral Conductors’ Prize, presented by the RIAS Chamber Choir.
In 2025, she assumed the artistic directorship of the Bavarian Youth Choir. She has also shaped the Thuringian Youth Choir as its acting director and regularly appears in productions at Schauspiel Leipzig as a stage musician and chorus master. Franziska Kuba represents a unique combination of tradition and innovation. She creates choral music that transcends boundaries and makes it accessible to wide audiences in fresh and inspiring ways.
