Benjamin Günst
Violin
Born in Kiel in 2002 and raised in a family of musicians, Benjamin Günst is among the most promising musicians of his generation today. He began violin lessons at the age of seven and, already at a young age, received multiple national prizes at the Jugend musiziert competition (also as a pianist). After graduating from secondary school and completing a pre-college course of study with Heime Müller at the Lübeck Academy of Music, he now studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin in the class of Antje Weithaas.
In 2026, he won the Musikpreis der deutschen Wirtschaft. In 2025, he was named a prizewinner of the German Music Competition Previously, he had also won First Prize, the Audience Prize, and the Prize for the Best Interpretation of the commissioned work at the 2024 Max Rostal International Violin Competition. In the same year, he additionally received the Förderpreis Kultur of the City of Kiel.
As a soloist, he has already performed with orchestras including the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, the Philharmonic Orchestra Kiel, the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra Leipzig, and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin. A passionate chamber musician, he is also a recurring guest at festivals such as Heidelberger Frühling, Beethovenfest Bonn, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and the Festival Internacional de Música Pau Casals. He has already shared the stage with musicians including Mischa Maisky, Nicolas Altstaedt, Fabian Müller, Antje Weithaas, and Daniel Hope.
In 2027, he will appear at the Rheingau Music Festival and the Lucerne Festival, among others, as part of the Kulturkreis tour.
