Wataru Hisasue wins 2nd prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition

The pianist Wataru Hisasue has been awarded 2nd prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition, one of the most important international music competitions. Our warmest congratulations!

The album conceived by Wataru Hisasue with world premiere recordings by Pascal Dusapin will be released by GENUIN in the fall. The recordings, which were made in cooperation with BR, are already finished. All preparations and work on the CD and booklet are currently underway. Wataru Hisasue has recorded the seven piano etudes and the piano work no. 1 “Did it again” for the album.


Wataru Hisasue's musical training was influenced by Kuniko Murakami and Yasuko Tasumi in Japan, Gilead Mishory at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, Emmanuel Strosser at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, Pascal Devoyon and Klaus Hellwig at the Universität der Künste Berlin. He has performed under renowned conductors such as Michael Francis, Mikhail Pletnev and Kazushi Ōno. The pianist has received scholarships from the Heiwado Foundation, the Rohm Music Foundation, the Freunde-Junger-Musiker e.V. Berlin foundation and the Carl Bechstein Foundation. The pianist has received numerous awards.
