Echoes of birds, water, and wind: on her refreshingly unconventional debut album with GENUIN, the young musician Sophia Schambeck presents flute compositions spanning nine centuries. New works stand alongside ancient ones, solo pieces are interwoven with ensemble music, Irish melodies contrast with Japanese ones, and original works are placed beside arrangements. Listeners are drawn into fascinating sonic worlds ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to the present day – performed on no fewer than thirteen different recorders. This acoustic universe, shaped by a musician devoted to connecting styles and cultures, fills us with wonder and deep emotion.

Gabi Szarvas spoke with Sophia Schambeck in the program “Der Vormittag” on August 16, 2025, about the multifaceted life of the recorder player between the stage, practice room, concert hall, and clinic.
NDR Kultur - Album of the Week
"Sophia Schambeck captivates with lively and differentiated interpretations and announces herself as a very independent voice with her debut album. In the version for recorder and seven baroque instruments, Woodpecker grooves so rousingly that you can hardly keep your feet still." Review by Marcus Stäbler, August 4, 2025
Das Album hat den Supersonic Award von Pizzicato erhalten.
Pizzicato
"The musicians on this album demonstrate the beauty of nature through music, featuring flute pieces ranging from 900 years ago to the present day, including works by Hildegard von Bingen. [...] An important feature of this thoroughly innovative and exciting program is the imaginative approach to music." Review by Remy Franck, July 4, 2025
