Pianist Natalia Ehwald has chosen two ostensibly contrasting works for her debut CD with GENUIN – Schubert’s introspective sonata in G major, D. 894 and Schumann’s extroverted Kreisleriana. And yet the musician, winner of the 2000 Robert Schumann Competition for Young Pianists in Zwickau, offers us a highly unified and coherent recording. It is no wonder critics and competition jurors are praising her tone and musical energy. She not only brings out the expressiveness in both pieces, but also their quiet moments of deep introspection. Like the pieces themselves, her playing crosses boundaries!

Fanfare
"It is an extremely compelling pairing of these masterpieces, and the German pianist Natalia Ehwald plays the music with great warmth and insight ..."
Review on the magazine Fanfare by Peter Burwasser

Scherzo
"Admirable (...) An absolute recommendation."
Review on the magazine Scherzo by Alfredo Brotons Muñoz, September/2016

Pizzicato
"Natalia Ehwald is a fine performer in this demanding program, and even though her playing does not lack virtuosity, she is convincing above all in the more poetic and introvert passages."
Review on the magazine Pizzicato by Remy Franck, 8.6.2016

L'éducation musicale
