Symphonies Vol. 2

The second installment in the three-part album series devoted to the composer Pieter van Maldere.
Following the remarkable first volume, Terra Nova Collective under Vlad Weverbergh continues its symphonic portrait of Pieter van Maldere, presenting further works from Haydn’s legendary “Quartbuch”. The profound impression this Flemish master must have made on the young Mozart can be felt in every note of this second album. Terra Nova Collective presents further treasures from the archives, unleashing van Maldere’s characteristic fiery orchestral energy, with its gripping rhythms and inner drama. Recorded on period instruments in keeping with historically informed performance practice, this second installment in the trilogy once again demonstrates that van Maldere’s music is no dusty repertoire from the margins, but belongs at the vibrant heart of the European Classical tradition. With it, the Flemish master moves ever closer to taking his place alongside Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
