Julian Emanuel Becker (born 2005 in Hanover) has attracted widespread attention since becoming the youngest winner of the St Albans International Organ Competition in 2023. In 2024, he also won first prize at the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition Leipzig as its youngest participant.
In 2025, he received the prize at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, a distinction awarded in the organ category only three times since 2001. He has also won first prize at the International Organ Competition Wiesbaden, the International Organ Improvisation Competition Weimar, and the Grotrian-Steinweg Piano Competition, among others. He is a scholarship recipient of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.
Julian Emanuel Becker studied as a junior student at the Institute for the Early Advancement of Musically Gifted Students (IFF) at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. He is currently studying at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre with Martin Schmeding (organ), Thomas Lennartz (organ improvisation), and Jacques Ammon (piano). During the 2025/26 academic year, he also studied as an Erasmus student at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Concert appearances have taken him to Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle, Philharmonie Essen, St Thomas Church in Leipzig, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, and Beethovenfest Bonn, among others.
In 2024, an album recording with clarinettist Lyuta Kobayashi was released on the Genuin label. As a composer and arranger, he has written commissioned works and transcriptions for renowned soloists and ensembles, including Igor Levit.
