The poems of the Sephardic poet Moses Ibn-Ezra, written a thousand years ago, were set to music by the great Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. In this recording, Anne Haasch (guitar) and Natalie Pérez (mezzo-soprano) present his remarkable song cycle „The Divan of Moses Ibn-Ezra“, released by GENUIN and paired with outstanding solo guitar works by the composer. Castelnuovo-Tedesco, one of the most influential guitar composers of the 20th century, created a masterpiece in the tradition of the great wanderer cycles of Schubert and Vaughan Williams. Anne Haasch and Natalie Pérez vividly showcase the expressive depth of this evocative yet meticulously crafted music – a poignant memorial against displacement and a heartfelt homage to Jewish identity and the guitar.

Pizzicato
"Mezzo-soprano Natalie Perez sings expressively, and both she and guitarist Anne Haasch give each song its own character. [...] The guitarist’s imaginative and sensitive playing supports the singing very well." Review by Norbert Tischer, May 15, 2025

Orchestergraben
"This is masterful interplay that moves and deeply impresses me. [...] Songs of Wandering shows how an exciting and interesting project can lead to musical enthusiasm - both on the part of the musicians and the listeners." Review by Stefan Pillhofer, May 9, 2025
