Dmitry Gornovsky is a classical cellist from Kazakhstan who began playing the cello at seven. As a child, he received lessons from his father, Anatoly Gornovsky, and later attended the Moscow Conservatory to receive instruction from Igor Gavrish and Valentin Feigin. He won the first prize at the International Music Competition in Ashgabat and has since performed as a soloist and orchestral musician with the Russian Chamber Philharmonic St. Petersburg, Collegium Noricum Nuremberg, and the Chamber Philharmonia Orchestra of Cologne.
Since 1996 Dmitry Gornovskyhas been working in Germany with well-known musicians from different genres, such as Giora Feidman, Dmitri Berlinsky, Nigel Kennedy, and Sergei Nakariakov. He plays in various projects with leading ensembles, including the Chamber Philharmonia Orchestra of Cologne and the Russian Chamber Philharmonic St. Petersburg, as well as the Gershwin Quartet, the Marina Quintet, the Almati Duo, and the Helios Duo.
