Gerold Huber
Piano

Straubing-born Gerold Huber studied piano at the University of Music in Munich under Friedemann Berger and attended the lied class of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin. Since 1989, he has formed an extremely successful duo with baritone Christian Gerhaher, winning first prize at the 1998 “Pro Musicis” competition (Paris-New York).
Countless concerts followed, including at Wigmore Hall (London), the Berlin and Cologne Philharmonie, Vienna’s Konzerthaus and Musikverein, the Opé ra Bastille and Cité de la Musique (Paris), Teatro de la Zarzuela (Madrid), and La Scala (Milan). Tours have taken them across the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Korea. Huber is a regular guest at the Munich and Salzburg opera festivals and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg-Hohenems.
In addition to Christian Gerhaher, he collaborates with singers such as Tareq Nazmi, Christian Elsner, Franz-Josef Selig, Maximilian Schmitt, Martín Mitterrutzner, Julia Kleiter, Anna-Lucia Richter, Christiane Karg, and Christina Landshamer.
He has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with the Henschel Quartet. Additionally, he is a co-founder and pianist with the Ruffini Piano Quartet.
Since 2014, Huber has been a professor of lied at the Würzburg University of Music, and since 2022 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. He has given masterclasses in Aldeburgh (UK), at Yale University, the Dresden University of Music, and the Hamburg State Opera.
