Ensemble Horizons
Chamber choir

Ensemble Horizons is a chamber choir whose members are predominantly active in the semi-professional and professional fields, mainly as school or church musicians. The choir, which operates on a project basis, focuses on sacred and secular music from a repertoire that spans from Gregorian chant to contemporary works.
Ensemble Horizons made its debut in 2018 under Matthias Klosinski’s direction with motets by Schütz, Schein, and Bach, accompanied by the instrumental ensemble BassoContinuoProject and lutenist Lee Santana. Since then, the choir has established a loyal core audience and receives support from the city of Tübingen. The ensemble made its first appearance in the prestigious Tübinger Motette series in February 2022 and has been a regular guest ever since. During the Tübingen Women Composers Festival 2023, the ensemble presented a concert at Stiftskirche Tübingen, which was recorded by German broadcaster SWR. Performances in the “Stunde der Kirchenmusik” at Kilianskirche Heilbronn, along with additional concerts in Stuttgart, Mainz, and other cities, underscore the choir’s increasing importance beyond its regional base.
Since autumn 2022, Ensemble Horizons has collaborated with the State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg, developing musical programs that align with the annual themes of these Monuments. In addition to presenting high-quality choral music to a broad audience, the ensemble emphasizes interdisciplinary projects. The ensemble has frequently bridged connections to other arts, such as theater, where it collaborated with actresses from Landestheater Tübingen, combining set ballads with spoken lyrics to create a powerful synthesis of music and spoken word.
Ensemble Horizons is primarily known for its sensitive and nuanced musical interpretations and its connection between tradition and innovation, aiming to broaden horizons.
