Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt
Conductor
“Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt is one of the leading cellists of his generation and our time,” judged none other than Mstislav Rostropovich. He was a laureate of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the International Rostropovich Competition, as well as the winner of the German Music Competition.
Since then, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt has conquered the world’s concert stages as a soloist, performing with conductors such as Marek Janowski, Charles Dutoit, Sir Donald Runnicles, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Jirí Belohlávek, Gabriel Feltz, Michael Sanderling, and many others.
In addition to his solo career, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt enthusiastically devotes himself to chamber music.
