Michelle Bernard's chanson roots go back to her childhood: colourful and loud family parties with singing and dancing together to songs by Udo Jürgens, Georg Kreisler, Elton John, old operetta hits and ABBA medleys laid the foundation for her deep connection to this music.
Being able to live as a musician in Leipzig gave Michelle Bernard enormous motivation from the very beginning of her studies. In love with this artistic centre, she has woven her fields of activity around the city in order to work professionally and, above all, genre-diversely.
As a freelance répétiteur at opera houses such as Chemnitz, Halle, Cottbus and Freiberg, the musician lives out her professional and pianistic talents.
As part of her teaching activities at the local University of Music and Theatre, she prepares young singers for a career in the theatre. Michelle Bernard is also director of studies and board member of the opera collective szene12 e.V. in Dresden, with which she develops contemporary opera productions for the independent theatre scene.
